About the Double Bass
The double bass, the largest and lowest-pitched member of the string instrument family, produces deep and resonant tones, providing a foundational and rich underpinning to various musical genres.
It is possible to learn double bass from a very young age with a 1/16-size instrument. However, it is recommended to start the double bass around 7 or 8 years old as it is a very large instrument. It is, of course, possible to start the double bass at an older age.
Our Teachers
All of our teachers hold university degrees specifically in their instrument. We select them for their passion for music and care for teaching. They are always encouraging and positive, catering to each student’s interests, desires, and goals. We teach with an “American Approach” to music education with your hands on the instrument from the first day (read our blogpost about the American Approach).
Free Trial Lesson
A free 45-minute trial lesson is offered to all new students. We want to ensure the teacher we chose for you is the right match!
Double Bass Lessons Paris Options
We offer 45-minute or 1-hour weekly lessons. For children under 8 years old, we also offer 30-minute weekly lessons. Paired lessons are possible with a sibling or friend at the same location and at the same time. Double bass lessons in Paris take place at your home on the day and time you choose. If you do not wish to have lessons at home for any reason, we can organize a studio for you in Paris.

Renting a Double Bass in Paris
We recommend renting a double bass until children are tall enough for a full-size instrument. The price of a rental double bass is usually under 40€ per month and generally includes the replacement of broken strings as well as any necessary repairs. Children must be present at the shop to ensure they are given the correct size double bass.
To take the instrument home, you will usually need to bring a piece of ID, a RIB, proof of address, a deposit cheque, and payment for the first two months of rental. Please note that the deposit usually corresponds to the value of the instrument, so do not forget to bring your checkbook.

Other Equipment : Music Stand
Students need a music stand for their lessons and for regular practice at home. It is best to have a sturdy stand at home rather than a very light folding stand, which can be unstable and uncomfortable for daily use.
The preferred stand among many musicians is:
-Manhasset Orchestral 50 (about 80€)
If you prefer a portable stand, we recommend:
-K&M 10810 (about 70€)
