Online Flute Lessons Information

Our online Flute lessons are open to children, teenagers, and adults, from complete beginners to advanced students. Lessons take place in the comfort of your home, on a weekly schedule that works for you or your family. Whether you are starting the flute for the first time or continuing previous studies, our teachers offer a warm, structured, and encouraging approach. All lessons are taught in English.

Join the Conservatory to start online flute lessons any time of the year. Below is information about what we offer, how to sign up, and valuable resources for beginners.

About the Flute

The flute is a beautiful and expressive woodwind instrument admired for its clear, singing tone and remarkable agility. It is heard in many musical settings including classical orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo repertoire, jazz groups, and contemporary or popular music.

Many students begin flute lessons around ages 7–9 when breath control and hand coordination are sufficiently developed, but it remains an excellent choice for teenagers and adults at any stage.

Our Teachers

All of our teachers hold university degrees specifically in their instrument. We select them for their passion for music and care for teaching. They are always encouraging and positive, catering to each student’s interests, desires, and goals. We teach with an “American Approach” to music education with your hands on the instrument from the first day (read our blogpost about the American Approach).

Online Flute Lessons Options

We offer 30-minute, 45-minute or 1-hour weekly lessons. Online flute lessons take place on the day and time you choose.

What You Will Learn

In your flute lessons, you will build a strong technical foundation through correct embouchure formation, steady breath support, relaxed hand positioning, and clear tone production across the full register. You will learn to read music confidently, develop rhythmic accuracy, refine articulation and phrasing, and cultivate expressive, lyrical playing. As you advance, your teacher may introduce more nuanced skills such as vibrato control, extended techniques, ornaments, and interpretation of various musical styles.

Styles of Music

All styles of music are taught: classical, pop, jazz, rock, etc.

Introduction Call

Before you sign up, our admissions team is available to speak about your personal musical goals and desires and to answer any questions you may have.

ABRSM Prep

The Conservatory prepares about 25% of our student body for optional ABRSM exams. These exams are not mandatory.

ABRSM exams are designed to motivate students of all levels and ages, giving them realistic goals and tangible rewards for their achievements. Since 1889, ABRSM has provided music teachers and their students with exams and assessments that nurture and evaluate an individual’s performance and progress. To learn the complete details of these exams, please visit www.abrsm.org or read our blog post

Useful Resources

  • Buying a Flute

The price of an entry-level flute is about 250€.

  • Online Music Store

We recommend:

Sheet Music Direct
www.sheetmusicdirect.com/

  • Other Equipment: Music Stand

Students need a music stand for their lessons and for regular practice at home. It is best to have a sturdy stand at home rather than a very light folding stand, which can be unstable and uncomfortable for daily use.

The preferred stand among many musicians is:

-Manhasset Orchestral 50 (about 80€)

If you prefer a portable stand, we recommend:

-K&M 10810 (about 70€)
