Freya CLARINET & SAXOPHONE
Freya, a passionate performer and educator from London, began her musical life in a family of musicians. Surrounded by music from a young age, she developed a deep love for classical music and ensemble playing. She later began studying the clarinet, which became her principal instrument, while also studying saxophone.
Freya trained at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music before completing her Bachelor of Music Performance at the Royal College of Music in London, where she studied with Richard Hosford, Barnaby Robson, and Tim Lines. She then went on to earn her Master of Music Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York, studying with Charles Neidich.
As a performer, Freya has appeared in renowned venues including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, Trinity Church Wall Street, and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In 2019, she was a prize winner of the Vandoren Emerging Young Artists Competition and received the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Grand Prize.
Alongside her performing career, Freya has developed extensive teaching experience in leading London schools, including Surbiton High School, Ibstock Place School, Kew House School, and Maida Vale School. She works with young musicians in a supportive and structured way, helping students build strong foundations while developing confidence and musical expression.
Since moving to Paris in 2024, Freya has continued to perform with orchestras and ensembles, including the Disneyland Paris Music Festival, Orchestre Symphonique du Touquet-Paris-Plage, and Orchestre Symphonique des Étoiles du Classique.
Freya has collaborated with the American Conservatory of Paris since 2025.
